Luminaria Sales

With two weeks to go, Luminaria sales have been brisk.  Because we have no idea of the weather this time of year, we need to be out selling at every Mass.  Go to the sign up page and see where you can help - all it takes is 15 minutes after Mass to make a difference.

Pancake Breakfast a Success!

The Pancake Breakfast was a great success.  Not only did we serve over 200 meals, bring in over $1,600., we also had 25 member volunteer at one time or another.  We might have picked up three members during the event, and a shout out to Kevin Rosa, who helped all day long.  Kevin is looking to join the Knights as soon as he turns 18.

No rest for the weary (well we did take a weekend off) as we roll into Luminaria Sales for All Souls Day.

Pancake Ticket Selling

The schedule for this week is set, but there are some Masses where we are a little weak.

See the sign-up page for the Masses that are under-covered.

Thanks for all your help.

The date of our regular meeting, Thursday June 18th, we will have a Mass and Installation of Officers.  This will be at 7pm at Sacred Heart Church and all parishioners, friends and family are welcome.

We were going to have the Installation during the business meeting, but the opportunity to have a Mass was presented and accepted.  Refreshments will be served after the Mass.

Membership Drive

We are looking for volunteers to speak at Mass and/or hand out information.  In order to help the Cluster, we need to grow our membership.

If you are available and would like to help, please contact one of the officers.

Thank you.

Brother Ralph Murphy

As many of you know, on Thursday, March 19, we lost our fellow Knight and Advocate, Ralph Murphy.  Ralph, or The Judge, as we called him, was present at the rebirth of Council 55 and a fixture at the business meeting, carefully scrutinizing the minutes and providing a legal eye on our procedures.

He was always interested in documenting events and along with some other Knights, videotaped Father Sullivan's first Mass in the cluster. Often regaling us with his law stories, war stories, and just stories in general,  Ralph was steadfast as a Catholic man, and encouraged us to get more politically active fro the causes we believed in.

Showing that it is never to late, Ralph made his Fourth Degree in his nineties, to finish the journey as a Knight.

Council 55 extends its condolences and prayers to his wife and family.  They should know he had a great effect on all of us who got to know him.  In Christ we will see our brother again, if we can live like he did.

A full obituary and schedule of arrangements can be found on the Phalen Funeral Home web site (click here).   As part of our honoring him, we will gather as a council at the wake, at 4pm on Sunday.  Members who are able to attend the funeral on Monday, should gather at approximately 9:30 at the back of St Francis Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to several causes, one is St Peter/St Francis School.  At our next meeting, we can decide how to best honor our Brother.

Also in his honor, we will hold his position as Advocate, open until the end of his term.

Back By Popular Demand

Yes, it is the Knights of Columbus, Solidarity Council #55 Pancake Breakfast.  The date is February 15th and will be held at St Peter/St Francis School from 7am - 1pm.  Last year we had a great time and everyone complemented us on the job we did.  Contact the Recorder at Click Here to sign up for a Mass and get instructions on selling tickets.  Remember to tell friends and neighbors and of course fellow workers about the breakfast.  Last years was successful and this year we are dividing the proceeds between our Seminarian account and Two Hears Pregnancy Care Center.  Hope to see you there.
