This is an event to benefit the school and they are looking for volunteers to sell Christmas trees, Wreaths and other things

2020 KOC #55 Luminaria Event

We are going to be holding out annual Luminaria Event this year, but due to the pandemic, it will be a little different.

We have already started handing out bags.  They are available after most masses at the front of the Churches.  This year people will take the bags, fill them out at home and bring them back to the churches after Mass or we will have a drive up collection on Sunday October 18, from 11 - 12 pm in the back of St Francis Church.  We hope to do this for each of the weekends until the event.

We cannot collect money or have people handle the markers, so people can leave their donation in the bag(s) when they bring them back.

Instructions can be picked up with the bags.   For people who cannot get out to pick up bags, they can email kocsolidarity55@gmail.com and we can fill the bags out for you and then contact you for the donation.

Thanks to all who participate and may God bless you.

55 Knights news for Week of September 13

 Hello,

Here is what is happening.

As of this moment, the outdoor Masses at St Francis are over.

The Masses will move indoors as of the weekend of September 19-20

Here is the information

https://www.johnpaulgreatparish.com/masstimes#phase4

Mass Guidelines are here:

https://www.johnpaulgreatparish.com/reopening

The dispensation for attending Mass has been extended to November 28th.

Masses are daily streamed on Facebook so there is more opportunity to take part in your religion besides the other churches that are streaming.

I sometimes spend an hour after Mass, listening to other homilies from Churches around the country.

We are trying to figure out our next meeting.  Even though we do not have much we can do, we should be able to do our Luminaria this November and also have a food or coat drive.

Watch your e-mail.

From the supreme Knight March 16

Dear Brother Knight,
As the world confronts the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you the actions and responses taken by the Knights of Columbus.
The coronavirus disease is not the first pandemic the Knights of Columbus has faced. In the late nineteenth century, and again in 1918, the Knights remained strong and active despite such situations. And together, we will do so again this time.
We know that this period will be difficult in various ways for everyone, and we want to assure you that the Knights of Columbus is fully committed to you and your family, and has taken the steps necessary to continue our important work on your behalf – from protecting the faith and financial stability of members’ families, to helping members put their faith into action by providing important charitable service within their communities.
Although to our knowledge, no staff at the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council or Museum in New Haven or at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington, D.C., have tested positive for COVID-19, we have implemented remote operations for most staff, allowing our business processes, customer service and fraternal support to continue their important work uninterrupted, while simultaneously protecting the health of our employees and reducing the risk of community spread of this illness, which is often facilitated by having large groups of people in close proximity to one another.
Furthermore, our sustainable investment strategy means that our exposure to current stock market volatility is limited, and we remain extremely strong financially. With that strength, and the strength that comes from committed employees, we remain positioned and ready to serve our brother Knights. Of course, our agents and our customer service team also remain available to help you with any insurance or related financial needs that you may have. As we implement new systems to serve you and respond to a higher volume of inquiries than usual during this period, it is possible that wait and turnaround times may increase.
In addition to what we are doing at the Supreme Council headquarters, many brother Knights have asked how they can help in their own communities. We suggest the following:
  1. During this period, we urge every member and his family to pray the Supreme Council's novena based on the prayer of Pope Francis (printable or video prayer), as well as a prayer being promoted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
  2. Help keep yourself, your families and your communities safe by cancelling all “in person” Knights of Columbus meetings and activities at the local or state level until otherwise indicated. This disease spreads when groups of people gather, so it is important that we avoid activities that could spread this illness. Councils should pursue online and/or teleconferencing options for meetings, fundraising, etc. until the danger has passed. The Supreme Council will be providing additional information on such options shortly.
  3. Leave no Knight – or neighbor – behind. If members of your council – or community – are elderly or have underlying medical conditions, please ensure that they have enough food. If you or others in your council have food to spare, offer to drop something off on their doorstep or to shop online for them.
  4. Give blood. Many communities are facing blood shortages. Those not being recommended to isolate themselves due to illness, age or underlying conditions should consider giving blood. National blood drives were pioneered by the Knights of Columbus in the 1930s, and this lifesaving activity remains an important aspect of our charitable work today.
As we move through this pandemic together, you can rest assured that the Knights of Columbus will be there for you. We will provide regular updates in the days ahead, and we will remain joined with you in prayer and in service to our neighbors in need.
May God bless you, and keep you and your loved ones healthy and safe.
Fraternally,
Carl Anderson

Message from Supreme Knight re Covid-19 crisis

Dear Brother Knights,
Be assured of my continued prayers for you, your family and for all our brother Knights. In this difficult time, I believe God is asking every Knight of Columbus to pray in a special way for one another and for our Order, not just for health or well being, but also that we be faithful to the great calling the Lord has given us as Knights in this challenging time.
To address the particular needs and challenges of these days, the Supreme Council is changing the format and timing of Knightline. During this unprecedented time, it is important that we are in more regular contact with you, and we will work hard to provide resources, both spiritual and practical, for you and your family. We are all facing challenges — I believe as Knights we are all called to be leaders in a special way during this critical time. The question we all must face right now, today, is this: “What does it mean to lead in this time of trial? “
We will now publish Knightline twice a week to help answer this question.
The new Knightline will include reflections and offer resources connected to these themes: love of God, love of neighbor and protecting your family.
This special edition of Knightline includes an article explaining what it means to lead as a Knight in this moment of trial. It is organized around five pillars that, I believe, we are called to live out in a particular way in this difficult time. Please take the time to read it and prayerfully reflect on it. We plan on offering further reflections on these five pillars regularly as part of future issues of Knightline.
My sincere hope is that we will all grow closer to God and to one another during this time so that we can serve as a beacon of light and hope to those around us.
If we are faithful to Christ’s call to us as Knights, he will certainly help us shine the light of his love on those around us. Together, brothers, let us step into the breach and live lives “worthy of the high call that God has given us.” (Eph. 4:1)
The Knights of Columbus was founded for times such as these, and I believe that this crisis will ultimately make us stronger as a force for good. Now is the hour of the Knights of Columbus!
Vivat Jesus!

Time is flying

Wow!  I cannot believe it was so long since this was updated.

With everything going on and "social distancing" the new norm, I will try to update it more often
